TL;DR: Download Dash 8 Beta for macOS and try it out!

Note: Both this blog post and Dash 8 are a work in progress.

Dash 8 is free for all Dash subscribers and will include several new features and improvements. Here’s what I’ve implemented so far:

MCP Support & HTTP API

Dash 8 introduces support for MCP (Model Context Protocol), making it easier to integrate Dash with AI tools. Check out Settings > Integration to enable MCP.

An HTTP API has been added and you can use it to list and search installed docsets and get results as JSON.

Other Improvements

• Alfred workflow improvements
• Resizable results dropdown
• No more automatic docset updates when low data mode is enabled
• Improved clipboard permission handling
• Various bug fixes and performance improvements
